Summer is here and it comes now as an expensive time for dental nurses. 

Please ensure that you re-new your GDC registration on time – it is so easy to forget but very difficult to get back into if you do not re-new on time! 

Secondly – Personal Indemnity Insurance – this is a very important issue and one that frequently gets over-looked. In these days of litigation and legal people out to make a name for themselves we can no longer sit back and be complacent! We strongly recommend joining the British Dental Nurses Association. For the annual retention fee you will receive a quarterly magazine as well as news of courses, jobs and other articles of relevance to our profession. 

Thirdly be sure that your vaccinations are up-to-date and that you are adequately protected. Be safe! Be sure! 

Lastly keep up to date with your CPD keep adequate records of verifiable and non-verifiable points. Take the opportunity to join in any courses that you can – not all of them are expensive and some are even free! 

We have now been asked by a few practices for the GDC number of the dental nurse (found easily on GDC web-site). Also proof of Personal Indemnity and proof of vaccinations. While this is not a legal requirement yet some practices claim that it is! We do not regard it as wise for the nurse to carry such valued documents.
